Ratio of the [C II] 158 µm plus [O I] 145 µm intensity to the total far-infrared intensity emitted from the surface of a PDR as a function of the cloud density n, and the FUV flux incident on the cloud G₀ .     We assume that I_FIR = 2x1.3x10^-4 G₀  erg cm^-2 s^-1 sr^-1. Models of Kaufman et al. 1999 are used with the standard model parameter set. A diagnostic plot combining the [C II]/[O I] and ([C II]+[O I])/I_FIR ratios is available.
