Plot of the [C II] 158 µm/[O I] 63 µm ratio vs. the ratio of ([O I] 63 µm + [C II] 158 µm)/IFIR emitted from the surface of a PDR . We assume that IFIR = 2x1.3x10-4 G0 erg cm-2 s-1 sr-1. Models of Kaufman et al. 1999 are used with the standard model parameter set. A diagnostic plot combining the [C II]/[O I] and ([C II]+[O I])/IFIR ratios is available.
